Show Opening, There's Nothing Quite Like It

 When committing to a show 14 months in the future, you never know what will be going on in your life at the time. 

I like the motivation of committing to a show -  not that I need a lot of motivation, I LOVE to paint and wish I could spend even more of my time painting.

What no one saw coming was there would be three gallery openings the same evening all within walking distance of each other in the wonderful small town I now call home. It was decided to make it a grand event, give it an umbrella name and promote all three events together. On top of that it was decided to do a "pop-up" (there is NOTHING last minute about a "pop-up" art show) in the alley behind the art gallery, with live music, cold drinks and hot tacos for sale.

It was a LOT.

I organized the Art in the Alley show with 13 booths and 16 artists. At times I would forget I had an opening that same evening due to managing what I had agreed to help with.

Thirty-one paintings I was able to deliver to the gallery. I even left several at home 'cause they just didn't quite make the cut. The evening was a huge success. The gallery openings were well attended, Art in the Alley artists did much better than expected, the party was was a big hit. I adore talking to folks about art, not just mine, any art. It was a wonderful evening.

My show, "Postcards From the 'Hood" will hang until June 26th at the Beloit Art Center, 520 E. Grand Ave, in Beloit, WI. When I pick up my paintings, I'll head over the Spring Green, WI for the 57th annual Spring Green Arts & Craft Fair.
