250 miles round trip to drop off my diorama, "Swim Faster" at a group show, Art Spectacular will is being hosted by the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts in Fond du Lac, WI. Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts was a breathtaking surprise.
The bright intimate sun-filled galleries are just the thing to chase away the midwinter blues here in the very cold midwest.
We climbed the sun-filled staircase to the upper floor of the gallery we were transported by the ethreal presence of Emily McIlroy's glorious artwork. A dozen works on paper, 5' x 8' hummed in the sunlight at the gallery on the top floor. We felt like we were in a holy space - created by McIlroy's art.
The art in this show was three years in the making. It was the visual and emotional process of McIlroy processing the sudden death of her twin brother, her mother, and her father.
McIlroy’s words,...I have come to see out own inner worlds are “wildernesses” - spaces that harbor great dangers, as well as potential for incredible wonder and discovery….”
